FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Taylor Rodeo Association (TRA) announced today that the 2020 Taylor Rodeo scheduled for
July 17-18, 2020 has been canceled. The annual event has been held in Taylor, Texas each year
“It is with deep regret that we have decided to cancel the 2020 Taylor Rodeo”, said John Carter, immediate past president of the nonprofit organization. “We’ve held this event for the past 70 years”, Carter said, “and never have been forced to cancel. The uncertainties caused by the current pandemic simply make it impossible for us to plan a successful event.”
Carter noted that potential restrictions on crowd size at the Williamson County Expo Center in Taylor would not allow enough attendees to cover the cost of the event. “In addition to being one of the top rodeos in the state”, Carter said, “the event is a major source of income for TRA to allow us to pursue our charitable and community activities throughout the year.”
Carter said that the organization was also deeply concerned about the potential for harm if the virus was still active in the summer of 2020. “While we will all miss the color and excitement of the 2020 Rodeo, the health and welfare of our fellow Texans is our primary concern,” Carter added. “We don’t want anything to happen to our many loyal Rodeo fans”.
The Taylor Rodeo is a two day event, and in addition to traditional rodeo competitions, also features live bands, a variety of foods, and activities that are fun for the entire family. “We will miss seeing all our friends and fans”, Carter said, “but we’ll be back!”
